KATE AYERS is a native Oregonian, living here all but a couple of years when she went off to school in San Francisco. She spent over 30 years thereafter in the great Pacific Northwest, working as a free-lance court reporter. That may have been a catalyst for writing mysteries, but she always loved reading anything that involved suspense, thrillers, whodunits, and true crime long before that. She remains in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and dog, and probably always will, for that's where her heart and friends are, too. And it's an area she considers ideal for reading and writing.
